Perfect Pairings with BHZ

Perfect Pairing: Baked Brie with Pomegranate + Pear Fizz Hard Seltzer

We’re all for fun activities to lift us out of our pandemic rut. And when the fun involves food and drink, we’re straight up thrilled.

Which is why we asked local food blogger Shawn Williams of Kitchen Swagger for a simple, tasty recipe to pair with our just re-released Pomegranate + Pear Fizz Hard Seltzer.

Shawn’s recipe for a baked brie is a perfect example of his take on food:

“I love to cook, brew and drink beer, eat healthy (and sometimes not so healthy), exercise and experiment with new cocktails and cuisines. My personal philosophy is that recipes should be a rough guide and not restrict you from adding your own creativity”

Have fun with the recipe below and be sure to grab a photo + tag us when you’re enjoying the final delicious results. We’d love to share your perfect pairing.

Also, be sure to check out Kitchen Swagger and follow on Instagram. Shawn has LOTS of great food ideas!

Cheers!

A baked brie in puff pastry sweetened with honey and your favorite berry jam. This sweet and savory app pairs surprisingly well with BHZ’s refreshing and sophisticated Pomegranate + Pear Fizz hard seltzer. The fruit-forward hard seltzer has tart notes of pomegranate softened slightly by pear. 5% ABV. Lightly carbonated to help clear the palate for maximum enjoyment of each warm, cheesy bite.

Ingredients:

·      1 large puff pastry sheet

·      1 round wheel of brie cheese (8-12 ounces)

·      2-3 tablespoons raspberry, strawberry, or blackberry jam

·      1 egg, beaten

·      Drizzle of honey

·      Sea salt crackers, pretzel chips, and pear slices for serving

Instructions:

1.     Preheat oven to 350°F.

2.     Place flour on your work surface and roll the puff pastry out to a rough 11x11 inch square.

3.     Place the puff pastry on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Place the brie in the center of the puff pastry. Spread jam on top of the brie and drizzle with a little honey.

4.     Fold the 4 corners of the dough over the brie pressing down gently to secure.

5.     Brush top with egg and bake for 30 minutes. Let rest for 10 minutes before serving. Serve with crackers, pretzel chips, or pear slices.
