5 Minutes With ... Thom Doggett

IMG_8760.jpg

Thom is a pretty recent BHZ hire. He only been on the production floor for about five month, but we’d be lost without him.

Packaging beer is Thom’s domain. At BHZ, canning days are pretty much a solo affair. It takes a tough mindset to can beer by yourself all day. Thom tackles every day with gusto, always looking for ways to improve our process. Never letting a slight hiccup derail his plans. Thom has also started to learn how to operate in the cellar, and will be doing double duty between packaging and cellaring.

One more production fact. Recently the team held an informal contest to develop the recipe for an upcoming beer being released in celebration of Pride Month. Winner was none other than Thom Doggett, with a tropical take on a traditional witbier! Thom’s recipe calls for fresh ruby red grapefruit and pineapple in the kettle and fermenter. The beer, Kaleidoscope, will release the week of May 31st. Looking forward to this crushable, tropical brew!

On a personal note, Thom came to BHZ from the U.K., after meeting his wife Marie while here on holiday. They live nearby and Marie dropped in to participate in our Pink Boots Collaboration. Love of craft beer runs deep!

Thom and Marie plan to visit the U.K. soon for wedding festivities. We’ll miss Thom, but we’re excited to see him looking fancy in a tux. Canning attire is a little less formal.
